Song Fa Bak Kut Teh (Ozone Mall, Jakarta)

by 7:35:00 PM

Song Fa Bak Kut Teh is one of the most well-known restaurant specialised in serving pork ribs soup from Singapore. It has established several outlets in Jakarta and one of them is at Ozone Mall at PIK area. The light and peppery broth goes really well with the super tender pork ribs meat and definitely great to be eaten on rainy days as it warms up your body. Not to mention that this dish is healthy as well. Check out the full review on the video! :)

Madagaskar (Plaza Senayan, Jakarta)

by 10:41:00 AM

Madagaskar is a brand new restaurant with jungle concept located at Plaza Senayan. (it's located in secluded area at the 5th floor near Applebee). I have to say that they did a great job in decorating the whole place, I bet you will definitely feel like you're entering an actual jungle when you enter this place. They also sell several safari themed merchandise near the entrance of the restaurant, so you could shop after or before you eat your lunch or dinner here!

The restaurant itself is super huge with dining area on the first floor and second floor, I bet they could accommodate more than 100 people. There's also a bar section available on the first floor with those super cute animal shaped chair. You could spot several animals decoration here and there and some of them could even move, I was startled when I saw that there is a big monkey head on the wall near where I sat (lol!)

Let's get started with their food!

Mollusca Mozzarella Sticks (IDR 68k)
Mollusca Mozzarella Stick

Mollusca Mozzarella Stick is basically deep fried mozzarella cheese coated with bread crumbs, it tasted pretty good although I bet it will be better if the cheese was melted and gooey inside because I found the one in my plate was a little bit sticky.

Sweet Ostrict BBQ Fries (IDR 48k)
Brown Oryx Fries

Sweet Ostrict BBQ Fries is basically french fries topped with chikcen mushroom and smoky BBQ sauce. I know I'm a such trash for fries, but I have to say that this fries was so good that I could even finish 2 or more plates by myself!

Yellow Jungle Fowl Tacquitos (IDR 55k)
Yellow Jungle Fowl Tacquitos

Yellow Jungle Fowl Tacquitos is basically a taco filled with minced meat and topped with guacamole and mayonnaise sauce. This one tasted pretty decent with a hint of avocado flavor although I found it was a little bit too bland for my liking.

The Peacock Tandoori (IDR 88k)
The Peacock Tandoori

The Peacock Tandoori is marinated chicken skewers with tandoori spice served on a bed of basmati rice. The chicken skewers tasted super good as it was super fragrant and had a tad bid of salty taste, some of you might find this too salty, but nevertheless it was good!

Short Rib Black Soup (IDR 140k)
Short Rib Black Soup

The Short Rib Black Soup is definitely not my cup of tea because I don't really like looking at those huge bones when I eat something. (except pork ribs, lol!) I tried some of the meat and I find the meat was quite tough and hard to be eaten.

Overall, I had a good lunch at Madagaskar, I have to be honest and said that their food was not outstandingly delicious, some of them were just so-so although some of them were good as well. Nevertheless, it's a good place to experience jungle themed restaurant as I don't recall that there is any other themed restaurant like this in Jakarta. Last but not least, best of luck for Madagaskar and thanks to Nibble for inviting me!

Sunday Brunch at Rasa (AYANA Midplaza, Jakarta)

by 8:48:00 AM

Rasa Restaurant is one of the hotel buffet restaurant(s) located at AYANA Jakarta (formerly known as InterContinental Jakarta). If I've ever talked about the Ramadan special dinner, (you can read it here) now I'm going to share about my recent experience indulging in Singaporean Food Festival Sunday Brunch at Rasa Restaurant!

The restaurant did give a different vibe for Sunday Brunch as it is brighter and more family-friendly with those beautiful view of the pool. The natural lighting from the outdoor area was pretty great and refreshing as well although the weather was a little bit hot during my visit. The Sunday Brunch was priced at IDR 388k nett per person which is a great deal!

Let's get started with their food!

Singapore Laksa

The Singaporean Food Festival was held on 2 - 15 August 2017 by inviting Chefs from Singapore, so you could expect authentic flavor of Singaporean food. In case you don't want to miss any special deals for the dining, you can check their website here. The Singapore Laksa tasted perfect with a hint of tangy and spicy flavor with perfect thick broth.

Chili Crab

The Chili Crab was served along with fried mantou and it tasted super delicious and I always love the chili crab sauce even though I'm not a big fan of seafood itself. Be prepared as your hand might get a little bit messy and dirty when eating this Chili Crab (lol!)

I did try bunch of other menus available during my Sunday Brunch experience and I have to say that nothings disappoint me, I personally love the super unique tacos with oxtail meat and green chili sauce which surprisingly complements each other well. The seafood served was pretty fresh and there are dimsum sections as well if you prefer to have Chinese-style brunch.

One thing that should never be missed if you visit Rasa Restaurant is to try their famous dessert which was pretty and amazing. (kudos to the pastry chef!) Seriously, I could say that their dessert was on the whole another level and I'd even come here only for their dessert (yes, it's that good!)

As a dessert-person myself, I'd recommend you to try all of their dessert but if I have to recommend one, you have to try the famous egg in the nest looking chocolate dessert. Trust me, it tasted divine and you will be longing for it once you tried it!

Overall, I enjoyed my Sunday Brunch experience at Rasa Restaurant, their food tasted great (and the dessert was amazing!), the service was great and the place is nice. I'd highly recommend this place for family, lovers or friends who would like to indulge in Sunday Brunch experience because they offer pretty good deal with reasonable price. Last but not least, thanks for having me and best of luck for Rasa Restaurant!
